Pathology Testing Packages & Pathways

Why Functional Pathology Testing is Essential for Your Mental Wellness Journey

At BalanSoul, we believe that testing is not about ticking boxes — it’s about uncovering the real story behind your symptoms. Functional pathology testing helps us identify the biochemical imbalances that conventional assessments often overlook. Whether you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, or other mental health concerns, targeted testing gives us the data needed to personalise your care.

But we also understand that comprehensive testing can feel overwhelming, both in terms of scope and cost. That’s why we offer a progressive, level-based testing pathway, so you can start with the essentials and expand as needed.

Choose the Testing Level That Fits Your Needs

🟥 LEVEL 1 — Mandatory Core Tests

Essential foundation for all new clients

These three tests are the cornerstone of mental health-focused care. They provide critical biochemical insights that guide every treatment plan.

  • Pyrrole Testing (HPL Urinary Marker)
  • Methylation Panel (SAMe:SAH Ratio + Related Markers)
  • Pfeiffer Protocol (Functional Inflammatory & Fatigue Assessment)

Without these, we risk missing the most vital factors affecting your mental health.

🟧 LEVEL 2 — Strongly Recommended Tests

Deeper insights for a clearer picture

For clients who wish to deepen their assessment, these tests explore key metabolic and neurochemical pathways that influence mood, cognition, and resilience.

  • Organic Acids Test (OATs)
  • Essential Fatty Acid Panel (Omega-3/Omega-6 Balance)
  • Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

🟨 LEVEL 3 — Strategic Add-On Tests

Fine-tune your care with advanced testing

These are specialized tests we may recommend later in your care journey, particularly if symptoms persist or specific patterns emerge.

  • Amino Acid Profile
  • Comprehensive Thyroid Panel (including antibodies & Reverse T3)
  • Advanced Hormone Panel (DHEA, cortisol, estrogens/testosterone)

🟩 Doctor’s Pathology Results — Essential for Comprehensive Analysis & Smart Testing Decisions

Why We Ask for Your GP Pathology Results

While our functional testing uncovers in-depth biochemical imbalances, your existing GP-ordered tests (such as Full Blood Count, TSH, CRP, ESR, B12, and more) provide crucial baseline data that adds context to your health story.

By reviewing both recent and past pathology results (preferably from the last few years), I can:

  • Detect long-term trends (e.g., persistent inflammation, thyroid dysfunction)
  • Link functional test findings to broader health patterns
  • Avoid duplicating tests already covered by Medicare
  • Decide which functional tests are truly necessary for you

For example:

  • If your TSH, T3, or T4 suggest thyroid issues, we may recommend a Comprehensive Thyroid Panelto assess antibodies and Reverse T3 — markers not checked by GPs.
  • If CRP or ESR results are missing, we can integrate them into a functional panel where relevant.

This collaborative approach ensures we’re only testing what adds value, saving you time and money.

What to Provide:

  • Recent GP Pathology Results(within the last 12 months if available)
  • Past Pathology Results(from the last few years to track patterns)

Important Note:

Providing these results is not mandatory for booking a consultation or starting functional testing. However, it is strongly recommended for a more thorough and cost-effective care plan.

If you need help requesting these results from your doctor, I’m here to guide you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to complete all tests before my first consultation?

No. You can book a consultation at any time. However, starting with Level 1 tests ensures we have the essential data to tailor your care plan.

That’s okay. We can stage your testing progressively based on priority and budget. Level 1 is the foundation; Levels 2 and 3 can be added later.

Absolutely. However, providing these results helps us avoid unnecessary testing and gives a fuller picture of your health trends.

Level 1 tests generally total around $X. Level 2 and Level 3 tests vary depending on which ones are recommended. We’ll always discuss costs upfront.
